It imay be caused by the heart rheumatic problems.Congenital valvular deformities or aging can be reason of this disease. Aortic valve disease due to rheumatic heart disease is rarely an isolated process and is most commonly associated with a significant lesion in the mitral valve.

Known aortic stenosis is usually associated with poststenotic dilatation of the ascending aorta. This produces lateral bulging of the right upper margin of the heart. The aortic knob is normal or small.

The calcification on the aortic valve, best demonstrated on fluoroscopic examination, is a common finding and indicates that the nortic stenosis is severe.

Cardiac catheterization procedure to determine the pressure gradient between the left ventricle and the aorta is required to estimate the severity of aortic stenosis. At the time of catheterization, the presence of mitral disease or associated aortic insufficiency can also be determined.
